ROLLING THUNDER

An orginal pencil drawing, size 22 x 16 inches, SOLD

The Vulcan, with its distinctive delta form, was operated by the Royal Air Force from 1953 until 1984 and was the mainstay of the V-force through the 1960s and 70s, The V-force fulfilled the role of nuclear deterrence against the Soviet Union during the Cold War. Throughout its oerational history the Avro Vulcan only once dropped bombs in anger and that was on Operation Black Buck during the 1982 Falklands War. The last Vulcan flying, XH558, is being restored for use in display flights at airshows.
